District 5 AAPI Month Heroes Announced!

Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga invites the community to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with the annual AAPI Month Heroes Luncheon on May 1. The event honors five distinguished individuals for their contributions to mental health advocacy, cultural storytelling, justice reform, historical preservation, and community leadership. Dr. Shashank Joshi is recognized for advancing youth mental health programs, while John W. Kim is celebrated for expanding AAPI representation in film. Paul Jhin is honored for his legal work combating anti-Asian hate, Connie Young Yu for preserving Chinese American history, and Alysa Sakkas for fostering cultural and community ties in Cupertino. The newsletter also highlights upcoming Board of Supervisors meetings and encourages public participation in local governance.
