Summary
Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga highlights the heightened risk of severe weather this fall due to a strong El Niño, with a 75% chance of being the strongest since 1950. Governor Newsom's state of emergency declaration enables faster resource deployment to protect communities from heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds. Valley Water is investing nearly $90 million in flood protection projects to prepare for the storms. The newsletter encourages residents to prepare their households using provided resources. Additionally, it congratulates graduates of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Academy Class #36 and promotes upcoming community events including a free internet scam workshop on September 28 and a virtual town hall on September 30 about the Permanente Quarry and former cement plant restoration efforts.
