*Grocery Outlet is now open at 350 Bay Street!*

Last week, the North Beach/Fisherman’s Wharf community gathered to celebrate the arrival of more affordable groceries in our neighborhood. The excitement in the air was palpable as we were joined by city & community partners to cut the receipt-ribbon and welcome hundreds of neighbors waiting in line to check out the store and do some grocery shopping.

Our neighborhood has been asking for this for years. Within days of the old Safeway closing in 2023, I cold called Grocery Outlet's Real Estate Division and let them know this neighborhood would rally around a new grocery store if they invested in our community. I then went door-to-door with neighbors and community partners like TEL HI Neighborhood Center, North Beach Neighbors, and NEXT Village. Together, we collected over 1000 signatures to show Grocery Outlet that we wanted them in the neighborhood! Ever since then, we worked closely with Grocery Outlet and Anchor Pacific to bring this store into this space.

Our advocacy worked! I'm so proud of how our neighborhood worked together to bring more affordable groceries to our community.

I was so happy to meet the new (local!) operators Jacqueline & Joel. Together, we engaged with neighbors prior to the opening to give them feedback on how the store can best serve the neighborhood.
