Bio

On December 1, 2025, Mayor Daniel Lurie appointed Alan Wong to represent District 4 on the Board of Supervisors. A lifelong Sunset resident, Wong has served on the City College Board of Trustees for five years, advocates for San Francisco’s children and families through his work at the Children’s Council of San Francisco, and has served in the California Army National Guard since 2009.

Alan Wong has dedicated his life to serving the District 4 community. Born and raised in the Sunset, he is a proud graduate of San Francisco’s public schools—De Avila Elementary, Herbert Hoover Middle, and Abraham Lincoln High School. The son of immigrants from Hong Kong, he began his higher education at City College of San Francisco before graduating from UC San Diego and later earning a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of San Francisco.

Wong’s public service career spans City Hall, the nonprofit sector, and education, with a strong focus on supporting San Francisco’s young people. He previously served as a legislative aide on the Board of Supervisors, worked at the Children’s Council assisting families who rely on child care, and played a key role in advancing early-education advocacy citywide.

Twice elected to the City College Board of Trustees—including two-terms as board president—Wong has championed efforts to preserve Free City College, protect Cantonese language programs, and keep educational opportunities affordable for residents across San Francisco.

In addition, Wong has served in the California Army National Guard for more than 15 years, holding roles ranging from paralegal specialist to public affairs detachment commander. He has also completed both the San Francisco Fire Department’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) training and the San Francisco Police Department’s Community Police Academy. Term
