The Town Manager Whistleblower Crisis — A Governance Scandal That Shook the Town
active• woodside
Woodside is in the midst of the most serious governance controversy in its recent history — one involving allegations of racism, sexism, corruption, and political interference at the highest levels of the Town Council. Town Manager Jason Ledbetter was placed on paid administrative leave in February 2026 after sending a 14-page whistleblower report to the press, in which he alleged that Mayor Brian Dombkowski and Mayor Pro Tempore Paul Goeld created a hostile workplace "built on corruption, abuse and dishonesty" — including racist and sexist slurs targeting Councilmembers Jenn Wall and Hassan Aburish. Ledbetter's report specifically alleged that Mayor Dombkowski pressured him to delay unpopular housing projects until after the mayor's reelection, with Dombkowski allegedly stating he needed to "postpone these actions until after he is reelected and no longer Mayor." The town disputed Ledbetter's account and claimed he demanded over $400,000 to keep the report secret — allegations Ledbetter denied. Residents packed the March 10 Town Council meeting to call for a public independent investigation — with the town's outside counsel instead announcing that the council had rejected Ledbetter's settlement demands.
