FYI: City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28. We'll be back in the office on Monday, December 1. Dear Neighbors, Happy Thanksgiving! If you’re leaving town for the holiday, I hope your travels are safe and as stress free as possible. But if you’re sticking around town, I’ll be at the Turkey Trot tomorrow! There’s still time to register – and support a local nonprofit . In the spirit of giving, my team and I are working to spread some holiday cheer for District 3 families. We’re collaborating with D3 small businesses to collect gifts for our holiday event at the Roosevelt Community Center. You can drop an unwrapped toy off at Bizzy Fit Meals, The Last Round Tavern, War Fitness, my office, or directly to Roosevelt Community Center . City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28. We'll be back in the office on Monday, December 1. Yours in community, Historic Preservation Ordinance Reform As I sit down to write this, I can’t help but think about how far we’ve come since September, the first time I wrote to you all as your councilmember. One of the first big challenges that was brought to my attention after I was sworn into office was from residents and business owners in Japantown who were struggling with some of the city's red tape around historic properties. I'm proud to say that in our first 100 days, our office has already taken the lead on reforming some of our historic ordinances so that we can meet the needs of residents and business owners alike. You can read more from The Mercury News here. Reimagining Santa Clara Street Major changes are being planned for Santa Clara Street and your input is needed! The Reimagining Santa Clara Street team is hosting an in-person meeting on Wednesday, December 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Join us at City Hall in Wing Rooms 118-119 to chat with us about design concepts. Learn more about the project at bit.ly/santa-clara-st-project . Looking for more ways to volunteer in District 3? We'll send opportunities right to your inbox if you sign up at bit.ly/TordillosVolunteer . Bestor Art Park Cleanup with Spartan Keyes NAC It's time to decorate the playground and surroundings at Bestor Art Park for the holidays! You are invited to join the Spartan Keyes NAC on Saturday November 29, 2025 at 10 am. Meet at Bestor Art Park, at the corner of S. 6th and Bestor, across from the Villa Torre Apartments. Refreshments will be provided! Thank you to everyone who came out to our fundraiser for the Trigg family! They've poured their heart and soul to Japantown for decades and it was beautiful to see the neighborhood turn out for them in their time of need. Thanks also to Supervisor Betty Duong and our former D3 Councilmember, Raul Peralez, for all their help in making the evening a success. Couldn't make it? You can still donate here . We had a great turnout at our first Coffee with a Councilmember! Hearing about what’s happening in your neighborhoods and your ideas about how our City can better serve our residents was a great way to end the week. Spent last Saturday morning with the Japantown Neighborhood Association! Thank you to everyone who joined us to help keep the neighborhood, park, and playground clean and safe for everyone to enjoy. The grand opening of Christmas in the Park is just around the corner, so my team and I spent Tuesday afternoon decorating our tree with something near and dear to my heart: more housing! Christmas in the Park opens on Friday, November 28th. I’ll see you there! I joined PATH at the Villas on 4th for an early Thanksgiving! Villas at 4th Street serves seniors 55 years and older who previously experienced homelessness. As we shared what we were thankful for this year, I'm afraid that my answer was rather cliché: I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve my community as your councilmember.
